A brief history

In 1949 a group of twelve liberal thinkers established The First Unitarian Fellowship of Fairfield County. By the late fifties they had grown to 260 members and wanted a home of their own.

Visionary architect Victor Lundy was hired to design a new church, and in 1961 work began on the church building – completed in 1965 – that exists today.

We are now at a critical point

For 29 years from 1984 to 2013, Rev. Frank Hall led this congregation with his unique preaching style. The majority of present members have never known another Senior Minister.

Change will not be easy. But we have tremendous potential and endless possibilities. We are ready to embark on our challenging new journey.

Who we are now

We are a vibrant congregation of close to 500 members, proud of our history, and strongly committed to our liberal religion and to social action. If there is one word that describes the “glowing coal” at our center, it would be connection. We love to connect…

We are fun-loving , talented and creative. We enjoy a robust sense of humor. We involve ourselves in social justice, music, religious education, and many other activities and committees.

Like many UU congregations, we aspire to be more diverse and to attract younger families.
